The FortiGate Administrator workshop provided IT specialists with hands-on training regarding FortiGate configuration, firewall policies, VPN, SD-WAN, Security Fabric, and High Availability.
From June 30 to July 3, 2025, BTS PRO organized the FortiGate Administrator technical workshop, dedicated to specialists involved in configuring, managing, and protecting IT infrastructures using Fortinet solutions. The course featured technical sessions delivered online by a certified instructor from Infinigate RO, while participants received in-person support in the classroom from Gabriel-Cătălin Stănescu, a cybersecurity engineer representing NetSafe. The workshop format allowed for a combination of theoretical presentations and hands-on exercises, with each participant working directly on their own laptop.
A central element of the program was FortiGate configuration and administration, ranging from system and network settings to security policies, NAT, routing, and authentication. Participants worked through relevant scenarios for the daily management of Fortinet firewalls, focusing on access control, user management, and the use of the GUI and CLI interfaces.
A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to security features. Topics included configuring antivirus profiles, web filtering, intrusion prevention, and application control—technologies that help organizations protect their networks against threats, unauthorized access, and uncontrolled application usage.
During the practical sessions, Fortinet solutions for secure connectivity were also analyzed. Participants worked with SSL VPN and IPsec VPN, configuring scenarios for secure access to the private network and connections between FortiGate devices. These modules are highly relevant for companies managing distributed teams, multiple locations, or infrastructures with strict secure access requirements.
The workshop also covered SD-WAN configuration, traffic distribution monitoring, certificate management, and the utilization of the Fortinet Security Fabric. These components contribute to more efficient infrastructure management, increased traffic visibility, and the seamless integration of security solutions into a unified ecosystem.
Another technical module addressed High Availability, featuring examples of using FortiGate devices in a cluster for fault tolerance and enhanced performance. The program also included diagnostic tools, providing participants with a practical foundation for identifying and troubleshooting technical issues encountered during infrastructure administration.
Through the curriculum covered, participants deepened their management of the most widely used FortiGate features and gained a practical perspective on how these solutions can be deployed in corporate infrastructures. The program helped consolidate the skills required for managing Fortinet firewalls and for professional preparation toward the FCP – FortiGate 7.6 Administrator certification.
